Office of Disability and Employment Policy
The Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) was authorized by Congress in the Department of Labor's FY 2001 appropriation. Recognizing the need for a national policy to ensure that people with disabilities are fully integrated into the 21st Century workforce, the Secretary of Labor delegated authority and assigned responsibility to the Assistant Secretary for Disability Employment Policy. ODEP is a sub-cabinet level policy agency in the Department of Labor.

The DBTAC Rocky Mountain ADA Center provides information on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to Colorado, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Job Accommodation Network

The Job Accommodation Network is a service provided by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy(ODEP). JAN is one of several ODEP projects. JAN's mission is to facilitate the employment and retention of workers with disabilities by providing employers, employment providers, people with disabilities, their family members and other interested parties with information on job accommodations, entrepreneurship, and related subjects. JAN's efforts are in support of the employment, including self-employment and small business ownership, of people with disabilities. JAN represents the most comprehensive resource for job accommodations available.

Emergency Services

CDHS oversees the state’s 64 county departments of social/human services, the state’s mental health system, Colorado’s system of services for people with developmental disabilities, the state’s juvenile correction system and all state and veteran nursing homes, through more than 5,000 employees and thousands of community-based service providers.

Benefits Planning

Resources for the Hearing Impaired/Deaf

The Marion Downs Hearing Center at the University of Colorado Hospital was created to honor the legacy of world-renowned audiologist, Marion Downs.  The Center provides resources, education and research to support the needs of individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing, their families, the community and hearing health professionals.

The CCDHH provides the following services:  The Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program supplies telecommunications equipment and hard of hearing residents who qualify.  The Lead Auxiliary Services Program oversees the coordination and payment of legally-qualified sign language interpreters and communication access real-time translation providers for legal proceedings in State Courts.
